MoveTheRNC.com / OutsideDC.com -- website "pre release." Why this needs to be done.Go inside the numbers: 50-1: the ratio of Democrat voters to Republican voters in recent DC primary. 7-1: ratio for Maryland primary: 4-1: ratio for Northern Viginia in same primary: Conclusion: RNC staff is outnumbered about 20-1 in their everyday existence:
MoveTheRNC.com / OutsideDC.com – are domain names secured for promoting the much needed idea of moving the headquarters out of Washington DC. C. Edmund Wright has been working on this idea for years, and has owned some of the domain names pertinent to this for years. The time is now. Read below background and the base argument for why:
When you think about it, it is so simple to explain. Really. It’s called human nature and geography. Our party is run out of Washington D.C. (Well duh, you say, that’s where the government is.) PRECISELY. We, the base, are the America that wants to get along just fine WITHOUT the government. You know, much like that document formerly known as the constititution says we should. But D.C. is a town about government…and government influence and government power and government money. And that makes it a fabulous place…for big government liberals. If you are trying to remain a conservative? Not so much.
There were approximately 50X the voters in DC for the Democrat primaries as there were for the GOP. Let me repeat that….50 to 1 ratio!!! Virginia and Maryland had several times the Democrat votes as Republican votes for their respective primaries also. Maryland about six to one and Virginia over 2-1.. You get the idea? It ain’t Republican terrirtory. It CANNOT BE. Whoever these poor souls are that populate the GOP party desks are surrounded in their soccer leagues and schools and grocery stores and cocktail parties and restaurants and sushi bars and churches (well, scratch that one) by a bunch of liberals. They can’t escape it. Something like 20 to 1 ratio in the entire Potomac area combined. It is hard to live where 95% of everyone you rub shoulders with cannot stand what it is you do for a living. It's easier being a tobacco company lobbyist!
Even Ann Coulter herself would wither under such pressure for years on end. And many of these party employees became party hacks right out of college. Many got started because their daddy made a few phone calls and the next thing they knew…BAM…they were an RNC staffer….or a DNC staffer…hell, daddy knows em all. I'll go work wherever I can get the job.
And now they populate the offices of our party….with no background in the real world, no background in the free enterprise system…no remebrance of Ronald Reagan. So many do not even have a reservoir of conservative experience as they try to try and get along in their everyday existence surrounded by 20 liberals for every one of them. Using just the most basic of human nature understandings it is easy to see why our party staff has no idea who we are….what we are….let alone WHY we are that way. We cannot possibly staff our party apparatus with people who must live, work and get along in this environment and expect our party apparatus to have the faintest idea just what it is we are about. But that is what we are trying to do.
So it’s time we quit trying to “walk up this down escalator” and just put human nature in our favor. It is time to move the main party apparatus OUT OF DC and move it to a city fairly close that is a city dominated by business and free enterprise, NOT a city dominated by government or pointy headed liberal universities. It has got to be a culture where free markets and business are understood and revered and respected.
Now by contrast it is perfect for the Democratic National Committee to have it’s offices in D.C. It’s their territory in every conceivable way. They can hire their interns and secretaries and janitors and middle exec types and so on from this environment and this is totally consistent with a party that is all about trusting momma government for everything and trusting the people for nothing. But it is the opposite that works for us.
So like many political tenets, what works for the Democrats is the OPPOSITE of what works for us. This is C. Edmund Wright's "photo negative postulate" and can be applied to so many things (are you listening Dick Morris?) The GOP cannot survive if the party apparatus is filled with folks who must live in a culture counter to what GOP supporters believe in almost every way. Even a great and disciplined person of conservative philosophy will be worn down after living in this city for just a short time. Exhibit A: It’s happened to some greats…like Bill Bennett and Jack Kemp…folks who were at one time acquainted with the real world...who understood what taxes and regulations do to the real world...who understand who speaks for us. Sadly, neither one has a clue anymore.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTARY--how stats and logic above spring to life in the heads of our leaders, their strategists, etc:
Is there any doubt that the Republican leadership and partry apparatus are out of touch with the base of the party? There shouldn’t be. The big disconnet became obvious in the disasterous midterm elections of 2006. Actually, it was a disconnect that had started to some degree in 1992…or perhaps1995, picked up steam with George W. Bush, Karl Rove and the “new tone” in 2000 and extended right on through Foley-gate and ended up with the 2006 election disaster.
In the meantime, Rove was given the title as genius because he could micro manage enough voter turn out in several Ohio precincts via his direct mail talents that put Bush over the top in the 2004 election. Certainly Rove did micro manage that particular part of the election ground game masterfully….but I never did and still do not buy the notion of him as a genius. The entire New Tone was a disaster…not a stroke of genius.
The fact is, if the Bush White House (and Rove was big part of that along with Bush.) weren’t so out of touch with what it is that makes us conservative….with what we believe…with what can move people by the millions….the re election would not have required micro direct mail guru-ship to survive the onslaught from the magnificent Kerry Edwards juggernaut. Not exactly the Reagan landslide re election of 1984, was it?
The New Tone muddied the waters from the start of the Bush Administration. This immature and insecure desire to make your enemies “not hate you quite as much” did nothing to make his enemies hate him less…but did much to make us hate much about how he governed.
And the ARROGANCE of the Bush White House was not manifest in foreign policy…it was shown in how Bush would cowtow to Clinton and Kennedy and so on and not have a care or a clue as to what that made his supporters feel like. The entire Bush administration was much more eager to please its enemies than its supporters. And the result is that they pleased neither. And they still to this day are clueless as to why. They still think they need to move further left to get lovin.
So the party has really been limping since 1992 to an extent…from 1995 when they blew the momentum of the Contract with America for sure….and certainly from the disasterous midterms of 2006. And we limp along here into 2008, where we have now nominated a man …John McCain…who has aboslutely nothing in common with us…the base.
Our President…who we thought would be “our” President since afterall, we were responsible for his election…sits in the Oval office with an approval rating roughly half that of his predecessor. (That is the same predecessor who is now widely credited for the implosion of his wife’s nomintion campaign….once thought inevitable.) And make no mistake, for the reasons mentioned above, President Bush’s low ratings are more a function of conservative displeasure than anything else. With liberals only hating him, his approval would be 60ish…not 30ish.
Meanwhile, the Republican presidential primaries are helpful only in that they are drawing such low voter turn out that they are actually reducing the planet’s carbon footprint. The Democrats are drawing roughly twice the GOP, in contrast. I think it’s a safe bet that the Dems are more in touch with their voters than the Republicans.
Conservatives keep aching for our team to stand for what we stand for and stand UP for those same principals. We want, crave and need conservative LEADERSHIP. But GOP party apparati and elected officials keep hearing from inside the beltway pundits that they need to move even further left towards the center…..and catistrophically they believe what they hear from “inside the beltline.” So we get liberal or moederate “followship” instead of leadership.
This starts with the new tone nonsense in the Oval office and winds all the way down to Dick Morris’ desk at Fox News and corrupts everything inbetween. It is this hideous knee jerk reaction to try and get in the way of the beliefs of moderates…folks who by definition don’t know or care about anything…as a way to get them to vote for our side. Apparently lost is the theory of perhaps standing up for what you believe with such passion and conviction that you might actually attract a moderate or two…or ten million…to join us. You know…remember that Reagan landslide thing we mentioned? It works.
